Cia. Gente X Rodrigo Monteiro = Fantastic slides that do not lead (sweep) anywhere

CONFRONTATION METAPHORE – The skateboard tracks give the impulse towards the space above, way up high. They draw turns in a dry-plain-country place in the interior. In the middle of all this lies a broom.
CONFRONTATION METAPHORE – João C. Silva picks up a broom and sweeps the square grounds, the lowest point of the big area with muddy gray slides.
Pause: piss smell. Aline Corrêa insufflates, expands, is supported, spins and twists. Break dance, handstand, back bridge.
CONFRONTATION METAPHORE – Metaphorá = transport, displace, take off. Metaphorá = sweep?
In the CONFRONTATION METAPHORE, the sweep is pre-production, execution and reverberation. In the big square(s) a concrete void.
Fillings of sand, rock, iron, benches and children sliding on the big magical turn that leads to another dimension. The sweep gathers and scatters, removes the dust, but stirs it up too.
In the CONFRONTATION METAPHORE, what belongs, what is already there is also swept. The dirt is only dirty because it isn’t cleaned. At pre-production, to gather dust for the conflict to happen works like cough medicine: ends the cough and brings relief. But doesn’t the cof cof friction help to eliminate what doesn’t want to be yours anymore?
At execution, João and Aline, in the twists – CONFRONTATION METAPHORE – handstands and back bridges, pile up and scatter around some collected wishes (things and people). The wish of the looking, the occupying, the facing and to feel like looking, occupying, facing.
Pause: silver tape to shine and split. CONFRONTATION METAPHORE. At reverberation, secret passages to other dimensions of the same place are invented.
The children who balance on benches are still there, opening real-imaginary spaces that are confronted by a big gray solar reflex on the/of the PEACE SQUARE CONFRONTATION METAPHORE – child and piss.
The CONFRONTATION METAPHORE: people who are and people who come and go.
The silver tape is removed the same way as the Santos sweat is wiped away with the touches and strokes of the hand. A moment of communion: circle games, playground spin, illustration and commotion. A child on the lap is the instant and the point to which everything is swept. Better said, almost everything, because there in the CONFRONTATION METAPHORE fantastic slides with the mild smell of a little pee there was still real action.
At the end, a dirty shirt.

METÁFORA DO CONFRONTO – As pistas de skate impulsionam para o espaço de cima, lá no alto. Desenham curvas em um local plano-seco-interior de interior. No meio de tudo isso, uma vassoura.
METÁFORA DO CONFRONTO – João C. Silva pega uma vassoura e varre o chão da praça, o lugar mais baixo da grande área de escorregadores cinza sujos de barro.
Intervalo: cheiro mijado. Aline Corrêa insufla, expande, se apoia, gira e torce. Dança-break, parada de mão, ponte com as costas.
METÁFORA DO CONFRONTO – Metaphorá = transportar, deslocar, decolar. Metaphorá = varrer?
Na METÁFORA DO CONFRONTO, a varrida é pré-produção, execução e reverberação. Na(s) praça(s) grande(s) um vácuo concreto.
Preenchimentos com areia, pedra, ferro, bancos e crianças escorregando na grande curva mágica que leva para outra dimensão. A varrida reúne e espalha, retira o pó, mas também o levanta.
Na METÁFORA DO CONFRONTO, varre-se também o que faz parte, o que já é e está lá. A sujeira só é suja porque não é limpa. No momento pré-produção, reunir o pó para o conflito acontecer serve como um Melagrião: tira a tosse e alivia. Mas os atritos do cof cof não ajudam a expelir aquilo que não quer mais ser seu?
No momento execução, João e Aline, nas torcidas – METÁFORA DO CONFRONTO – paradas de mão e ponte com as costas, amontoam e jogam para todos os lados alguns desejos (de coisas e pessoas) coletados. Vontades de e do olhar, de ocupar, de encarar.
Intervalo: fita silver tape pra reluzir e dividir. METÁFORA DO CONFRONTO. No momento reverberação, passagens secretas para outras dimensões de um mesmo lugar são inventadas.
Crianças que se equilibram em bancos pichados continuam ali, abrindo espaços imaginários-reais que se confrontam com o grande reflexo cinza solar na/da METÁFORA DO CONFRONTO PRAÇA DA PAZ – criança e mijo.
A METÁFORA DO CONFRONTO: pessoas que são e pessoas que vão e vêm.
O silver tape é removido, assim como o suor de Santos que é seco através de toques e carinhos feitos pelas mãos. Um momento comunhão: roda, ciranda, gira-gira, ilustração e comoção. Uma criança no colo é o instante e o ponto para onde tudo é varrido. Ou melhor, quase tudo, porque lá nos escorregadores METÁFORA DO CONFRONTO fantásticos com um leve cheiro de mijinho ainda havia real ação.
E no final, uma camisa suja.

The bodies let their balloons go as if they were body parts deliberately detached to fly up to the sky.
Transformed they walk.
A change, a birth is announced.
“Red Balloons” was put together after a one-year residence of the group Cia. Etra de Dança Contemporânea at the SESC in Santos.
Artistic occupation: an artist or group of artists occupies and uses a space that is usually a cultural institution and there they have dialogues with the local structure and commit to the research, the construction and development of an artistic work.
Cia. Etra was established by Edvan Monteiro and his wife, Ariadne Filipe.

During the Dance Biennial in 2013, “Red Balloons” was presented as an installation in the hall of SESC Santos, as a show in the same place, and as an intervention on the Mauá Square, downtown Santos.
For those on the hall floor: the thick red lines split them. Their movements seem to suck these half-confusing signs. And let them go.
The screaming visual redness is a part of them.

Little by little the interpreters get tenderly tangled up on the square where the balloons are tied to. One of the dancers has several small balloons in her clothes.
